The first thing to service in the Mk2/3 shift assembly is the ball and socket assembly at the bottom of the shift lever. Wear from ordinary use will eventually cause excessive vertical play. This may cause the reverse lockout finger to break off when reverse is selected.
Kit contains new ball insert complete with socket, seal, new press pin and all other associated hardware with replacing it. Installation only takes a few minutes, but does require dropping the exhaust system and exhaust tunnel heat shield to remove the shift box. Follow up with a SmartShift2 kit! Or, for 60% of the benefits at 25% of the cost, combine with our Bushing/Ball only kit for MK2/3.
There's no greater bang for the buck invested than from this simple kit.
